RANDOLPH—Area corn growers discussed future trends and strategies at the Tri County Corn Growers meeting. The group of corn growers from Pierce, Knox and Cedar counties, met in the Randolph Auditorium.

HARTINGTON—The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans picked up a pair of Mid State Conference wins during girls basketball action.

Cedar topped Battle Creek 57-50 Jan. 11 and Pierce 64-31 Jan. 14.

The wins move Cedar to 7-5 and 3-2 in the conference.

HARTINGTON — Randy Stolcpart’s legal fate was decided here last Thursday in Cedar County District Court, but his job future is still up in the air.

The state dismissed all charges against Stolcpart, 56, during a twoday trial. Sexual assault charges were dropped after defense attorneys were unable to cross examine the key witness in the case, a 17-year-old girl who accused Stolpcart.

HARTINGTON — Embattled District Judge Maurice Redmond said many of the charges filed against him have no merit.

Redmond acknowledged he violated the Nebraska Code of Judicial Conduct once, and that he may have violated the code on two other occasions, but he generally defended his conduct in his written response to complaints against him.

The Nebraska Commission on Judicial Qualifications filed a 17-point complaint Nov. 29 against Judge Redmond, who presides over District Court in Cedar, Dixon and Dakota counties.

The Commission appointed Lancaster County Judge Paul D. Merritt as Special Master in the case, which is slated to be heard in March.

HARTINGTON — When Nebraska pork production leaders convene in Columbus for their annual convention and exposition next month, an area farmer can look back with pride on a job well done. Dave Hansen has held the reigns for the past two years of Neb. Pork Producers Association and will now hand his position off.
