WINSIDE - Randolph parlayed a couple of champions, three secondplace finishes and a total of nine medals on the way to the team title of the Winside Invitational Tournament here Jan. 10.
The Cards outdistanced Weeping Water, 152-134 to earn the big trophy. Homer was third with 114.5; Osmond was fourth with 102.5 and Winnebago rounded out the top five with 89.5 points.
Gage Jensen at 165 pounds and Gavin Wortman at 190 brought home gold medals for their efforts on the day.
Jensen pinned his way to his title, in fact, he wrestled just over a two-minute period the entire day. He pinned his first opponent in 53 seconds, his second opponent in 19 seconds then stuck Ethan Roberts of Homer in 1:13 in the finals.
Wortman used a pair of falls and a semifinals decision to earn his championship.
Bentley Reimers at 106, Cole Jensen at 132 and Owen Junck at 157 came in second during the tourney while John Leija at 150 pounds was third.
The Cards had three wrestlers place fourth. Talyn Meyer at 120, Tate Brodersen at 132 and Justin Backer at 175 all brought home some hardware.
Randolph traveled to West Point Jan. 7 for a triangular with Guardian Angels Central Catholic and Cedar Catholic and split the duals.
The Trojans defeated the Cardinals 32-27 while Randolph inched past the Bluejays, 32-29.
The Cards own an 8-3 dual record thus far this season.
Randolph is scheduled to travel to Atkinson for a meet at West Holt on Jan. 17.
