WEBSTER, S.D. – A Coleridge man was arrested on a sexual assault charge for a second time.
Jeffrey Hansen, 48, was arrested on suspicion of sexual contact with a child under 16 Dec. 27, 2024 - about seven months after he was convicted on two similar charges.
The latest charge was filed in Day County, S.D., alleging Hansen engaged in sexual contact with a boy who was 13 years old at the time.
The alleged offense took place in January 2021.
According to court documents, the charge is based upon information received by Cedar County Sheriff Larry Koranda.
Hansen posted a $10,000 cash bond on Jan. 2 and his next court hearing is set for Feb. 12.
He was convicted of two counts of sexual contact without consent or capability to consent last May in Codington County, S.D.
He was sentenced to 28 days in jail and required to pay a $2,000 fine.
Hansen has previously held positions of power in Coleridge including as former fire chief and rescue president, and former chairman of the Coleridge Area Fund.
