Wrestlers duel on mat in duals tournament

ORD - The Randolph wrestling team opened the post-moratorium part of its schedule in the Ord Invitational Duals Tournament on Dec. 30 where the Cardinals finished the day with a 3-2 record to improve to 7-2 on the season in dual meets.

In the opening session of the day, Randolph was beaten by Class B Adams Central 47-24 then responded with a 62-5 win over Class C Hershey.

'Overall, we were able to beat the one Class D opponent we wrestled and we beat a couple of Class C schools,' said Cooach Mark Lech. 'We got to see some good competition from all classes and we got to compete against some schools we don't often meet.'

Next, the Cards were defeated by Class B Central City 61-15 then finished the day with a 48-15 win over fellow Class D school, North Central before taking care of their host, Ord, 48-33.

Bentley Reimers, Gage Jensen and Justin Backer all had a successful meet, winning four of the five matches they wrestled.

Randolph was set to wrestle in a triangular with Guardian Angels Central Catholic and Cedar Catholic on Jan. 7 in West Point before heading south to the Winside Invitational on Jan. 10.
