WEST POINT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils got back in action on the hardcourt on Saturday as they travelled to take on the West-Point Beemer Lady Cadets in their holiday tournament.
Wynot had a hard time shaking off the rust from the moratorium break as they were soundly defeated by the Lady Cadets.
The Lady Cadets built a comfortable 4022 halftime lead as they cruised to the 73-30 win. The Lady Cadets record improved to 6-2 with the win while Wynot’s record fell to 4-3 with the loss.
The Lady Cadets got a monster game from Allie Kaup as she burned the nets for a game high 33 points. Campbell Snodgrass and Mia Hunke both hit double figures with 10 points each.
Wynot was led by Addison Sharpe who hit a trio of three pointers for nine points and Haley Wieseler, Eliza Lange and Jordan Foxhoven each scored five points for the Lady Devils.
The Lady Devils would get five points from Eliza Lange and a trey by Addison Sharpe in the first quarter. Allie Kaup would lead the Lady Cadets with eight points as they took the early 17-10 advantage.
In the second quarter Wynot got two more three pointers from Addison Sharpe and a bucket each from Jaylin Geisen and Haley Wieseler but they continued to lose ground. The Lady Cadets continued to find scoring opportunities. Allie Kaup poured in 11 more points, Campbell Snodgrass scored five points and Nevach Weburg drained a trey as the Lady Cadets widened their lead to 40-22 at halftime.
The Lady Blue Devils went ice cold in the third quarter as they were held to only five free throws. Meanwhile, West Point Beemer got five points each from Mia Hunke and Allie Kaup and expanded their lead to 58-27 going into the final quarter.
In the fourth Coach Wieseler would clear his bench. Allie Kaup hit for six more points and Jadyn Doggett hit a trey as the Lady Cadets advanced to the championship match-up where they will take on the Crofton Lady Warriors.
Wynot will play Archangel Catholic in the consolation round on Monday at 12:00.
