Local poster winner moves on to the national contest

HARTINGTON — “May the Forest Be With You, Always” was the topic of the 2024 National Conservation Association District Stewardship Week and Poster Contest. Students from around the district submitted posters depicting trees, forests, “Darth Vader,” animals, and much more to their local NRD for judging. Local NRD contest winners were sent to the state level, where they were judged by the Nebraska’s Association of Resources Districts Board of Directors. State-level winners are moved on to the national contest, where NACD representatives will judge them in February 2025.

Local winners were Clara Steffen (4th-6th) grade, and Elin Haberer (2nd-3rd) grade, both of Holy Trinity Elementary School. They and their class received tree-related books for winning their age division in this year’s local contest.

Kiersten Hans of Wynot Public Schools won the 7th-9th grade division at the state level, and her poster was moved onto the national contest. She received a $25 gift card from NARD and a book about trees from LCNRD.

Thank you for representing the Lewis & Clark Natural Resource District, and Good Luck at the NACD national contest in February!
