NORFOLK - Some people say that the greatest music is traditionally heard around the holidays.
The Northeast Community College Music Department had those tastes covered during a recent winter concert at the Lifelong Learning Center on the Norfolk campus, mixing in some holiday favorites as part of the show. The College/Community Concert Band and College Choir performed. Among those playing in the concert band include Andrew Schultz and Matthew Schultz, both of Randolph.
Selections included themes from “Nutcracker Suite” by the Community/College Concert Band and “A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Madrigal” by the College Choir, among many others during the hour-long event.
Music can mean a variety of things to different people and the concert offered something for almost everyone. The annual concert offers the public a chance to gather themselves before the holiday season rush. For students, it offers a break from studies.
The vocal director was Margaret Schultz, with Linda Boullion the accompanist. The instrumental director was Kevin McLouth.
The concert was livestreamed and may be viewed at https://team1sports.com/northeastcc/. Go to the On Demand and look for the Northeast Holiday Concert on Nov. 17.
