1959: Hegert is elected as Chamber of Commerce President

LAUREL- Duane Kastrup, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kai R. Kastrup recently received a box of coins, sea shells and other souvenirs from New Guinea Island in the South Pacific.

The box was sent to him by Paul Johansen, who is in the service and stationed on that island. It is needless to say that Duane prizes his collection very highly and delights in exhibiting it.

LAUREL- Mary Faye Tolles of Laurel served as chairman of the decorations committee for open house at Beegle Hall, women’s dormitory at Midland College in Fremont. Miss Tolles, a sophomore, is a member of Phi Alpha sorority. She is the daughter of Mrs. Earle Tolles of Laurel.

LAUREL- Bob Nunemaker went fishing again. Nothing strange about that, but this time he fished by proxy way out around Portland, Oregon and he hooked and landed a great big salmon, some 30 inches long and weighing something just under half a ton. Bob’s son, Burton, who now lives in Portland and is a chip off the old block when it comes to fishing, caught the fish and sent it to his Father and Mother.

HARTINGTON—Ray Hegert, hardware dealer, was elected president of the Hartington Chamber of Commerce for 1959 Dec. 10,1959

HARTINGTON—Pfc. Willard Yates of Fort Benning, Ga., arrived here Sunday evening to spend the holidays in the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.G. Peitz. Pfc. Yates will return to Georgia when he reports to duty.

HARTINGTON—Mr. and Mrs. Francis Schulte left this morning on a chartered plane from Omaha for a five-day all-expense holiday vacation at Miami Beach, Fla., as guest of the J.I. Case Implement Co.

Schulte Buick and Implement of Hartington was one of the winners of the trip from Nebraska in a sales quota contest sponsored by the Case Company.

The Schultes will arrive in Miami this evening and will be guests with other winner at the Americana hotel on the Gold Coast at Bal Harbour. They will leave Miami on the return trip on Monday.
