OMAHA — Two Cedar Catholic football players were recently honored with First Team All State status.
Several other area football players recently picked up All State Honorable Mention status.
Cedar Catholic senior Ryan Pick was named to the Class C2 All State First Team as an offensive lineman by Huskerland Prep Report. The Omaha World Herald gave him First Team All State status as a defensive lineman.
Cedar Catholic freshman Micah Cattau’s leg also garnered the attention of state sports writers. The 5-11 freshman earned First Team All State honors from the Omaha World Herald as a punter. Huskerland Prep Report Editor Bob Jensen said Pick was very deserving of the honor because he, “anchored the offensive line that gave all those great opponents fits.”
Several other Cedar athletes earned All State Honorable Mention status. They are: Jaymison Cattau, Braeden Reifenrath, Brady Hochstein, and Breiton Whitmire.
The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats placed four on the Honorable Mention team. Cole Heimes, Ayden Rosener, Cole Rosener, and Cole Bensen all earned the honor.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears had two All State Honorable Mention selections — Connor Korth, and Eli Haisch.
No other Cedar Catholic athletes earned All State status from Huskerland. The publication does not make Honorable Mention selections.
State champion Norfolk Catholic had five athletes earn First Team All State from the Huskerland Prep Report. All five lined up on the defensive side of the ball.
