WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils opened the basketball season Thursday night with a dominating 70-39 win over the visiting Bloomfield Bees.
Wynot used big second and third quarter runs of 17-6 and 16 -7 to open a big lead as they cruised to the win.
Wynot put 12 players in the scoring column using balanced scoring and stubborn defense to earn the win.
Justin Heimes led the way for the Blue Devils with 13 points and Kotner Koch hit a trio of three pointers to also hit double figures with 10 points.
Bloomfield was led by Benjamin Dodge with 14 points and eight rebounds. Beau Eisenhauer also recorded double figures finishing with 10 points for the Bees.
In the opening quarter Kotner Koch hit a pair of three pointers and Justin Heimes connected for five points to lead Wynot to a 19-13 lead. The Bees got five points from Beau Eisenhauer and a trey by Kellen Loecker to stay within touch.
In the second quarter the Bees got a pair of baskets in close by Benjamin Dodge but struggled after that. Meanwhile Wynot exploded on a 17-6 run led by seven points from Killian Steinhaus and five points by Cooper Oligmueller to take a 36-19 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
The Blue Devils would keep the pressure on in the third quarter as another run this one a 16-7 burst would give them a 52- 26 advantage going into the final quarter. Justin Heimes heated up with eight points and Kotner Koch’s third trey of the game lead the attack.
In the fourth quarter Benjamin Dodge tried to rally the Bees with six points in the paint and Beau Eisenhauer drained a long trey but it was a case of too little too late. The Blue Devils would counter with four points each by Nixon Heimes and Cooper Oligmueller and a three-pointer by Braylon Hans that helped Wynot pull away for the 70-39 win.

WINSIDE — For the second game in a row, the Wynot Blue Devils put up 70 points as they rolled to a big 70-36 win over the Winside Wildcats Friday.
Wynot used a shut down defense in the first half and a 25-13 third quarter run to improve to 2-0.
Balance scoring was the ticket in this one as 12 Blue Devils would get into the scoring column. Nixon Heimes took scoring honors with his 16 points and Justin Heimes also hit double figures with 11 points. Kotner Koch and Killian Steinhaus helped out with eight points each.
Winside got 12 points from Jahiem Hamik and eight points from Brayden Curz.
The Blue Devils got off to a fast start in the game as they got five points from Justin Heimes and three pointers each from Devin Brummer and Kotner Koch to race to an early 18-7 lead. Brayden Curz had five points to lead the Wildcats.
The Blue Devils defense shut down the Wildcats offense in the second quarter holding them to a single point. Meanwhile Wynot’s offense continued to roll. Cooper Oligmueller hit a pair of buckets and a basket each from Andrew Haberman, Justin Heimes and Kotner Koch pushed the Blue Devils lead to 30-8 at halftime..
Winside tried to get something going in the third quarter. Four points by Jahiem Hamik, a trey by Tyler Paulsen and a basket plus one each from Brayden Curz and Jayden Aschoff provided the Wildcats offense.
Wynot would keep the pressure on going on a 25-13 run to widen the gap leading 55- 21 with one quarter to play.
Reserves mopped up in the fourth quarter for the Blue Devils. Cash Lenzen hit a three pointer and Carter Hans, Braylon Hans and Lane Heimes all hit baskets as Wynot took the 70-33 win.
Wynot is next in action at West Point Guardian Angels Thursday Dec. 12.
