Local athletes pick up All State honors

OMAHA — Wynot hitter Kenna Oligmueller and Cedar Catholic libero Bailey Hochstein earned All State Second Team honors this week, and several other local athletes picked up All State Honorable Mention status from the Omaha World Herald.

Hochstein, a 5-2 senior for the Lady Trojans, patrolled the backcourt for Cedar, going down for 409 digs during the season, including 34 in a five-set state tournament thriller against eventual state champion Superior.

Oligmueller was a key reasonwhy the Wynot Lady Blue Devils were able to advance to State. She slammed home a team-high 333 kills this season. She was also second on the team in digs, collecting 349 on the year.

Wynot also had several girls earn All State Honorable Mention status. They are: Joslyn Hochstein, Eliza Lange, Sophia Geisen, Jaylin Geisen, and Haley Wieseler.

The Lady Trojans placed seven athletes on the All State Honorable Mention team. They are: Melayna McGregor, Lauren Bernecker, Katelyn Arens, Lyndsey Hamilton, McKinlee Lammers, Addison Walter, Brynn Bernecker.

Hartington-Newcastle had two athletes earn All State Honorable Mention status — freshman Vayda Lippert, and senior McKenzie Bruning.
