HARTINGTON — As the first snow of the season is now on the ground, it's obvious Christmas is in the air.
Area residents will soon be able to not only see the signs of the season, but also enjoy the sounds of the season, as area schools present their annual Christmas concerts.
East-West Catholic will hold their annual Christmas concert Sunday, Dec. 8.
Hartington-Newcastle K-6 elementary school students will present their Christmas concert Monday, Dec. 9. In addition to the vocal music selections, the elementary band will give its first performance of the year. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.
HNS Jr. and Sr. High School students will present their annual concert Dec. 19. That performance will begin at 7 p.m.
The Cedar Catholic Christmas concert will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10. Holy Trinity Elementary School students will present their Christmas concert Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m.
Holy Trinity students will also decorate cookies for local businesses this Friday. The sixth grade class will then deliver them and go caroling on Monday afternoon.
The Holy Trinity third grade will perform Nativity plays Dec. 17, and Holy Trinity first and sixth graders will team up that same day to make Gingerbread houses. On Dec. 19, the school will have a Birthday party for Jesus.
The Wynot Elementary Christmas concert will also be held Dec. 10, and begin at 7 p.m., in the school gym. The Wynot High School Christmas concert will take place Monday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m., in the school gym.
