HARTINGTON—Criminal charges were filed in Cedar County court against Sheriff Loren Trautman. Special prosecutor, Clarence Mock, filed one count of misdemeanor false reporting against Trautman. The charge accuses the sheriff of lying to investigators during the Nebraska State Patrol’s probe of his office.

HARTINGTON—Haven House of Wayne opened a satellite office in Hartington recently. The Hartington office is currently set up in the upper level of the Hartington Public Library.
This is the second satellite office of the agency. The other one exists in South Sioux City. Dec. 1, 2004 HARTINGTON — The sounds of the Holiday Season will soon be ringing through the air here. Christmas concerts for area schools have been scheduled for the upcoming days and weeks.
The first concert of the season was held Nov. 30 at the Hartington Public School Gym. The concert featured music from 7-12 graders. Both the band the chorus performed.

ST. JAMES — Near record-low water levels on the Missouri River have revealed an old steamboat wreck near here. The boat was rediscovered March 18 when Clint Pinkelman noticed it had resurfaced. Pinkelman found a 100-160 foot long section of what he thought to be an old paddle boat.The huge structure was partially buried in the sand and there was also a loose door, a pipe and old block on top of the structure, along with some buffalo bones.

HARTINGTON — After weeks of practice and preparation, local athletes will finally get a chance for some real competition this week. The winter sports season in Nebraska tips off this week with a full slate of games. The new season brings with it plenty of new faces in the area coaching ranks. Hartington Public School has two new head coaches this season.
The familiar faces of Dave Zimmer and Randy Stolcpart are gone. They’ve been replaced by Tim Manzer and Janelle Seagren.
Seagren has been an assistant with the Wildcats boys’ team. Manzer is new to the HPS School District.
