COLERIDGE — There was no shortage of snacks, food, and fun for the opening of the new Coleridge playground.
The new set up is a playground paradise — a kid’s dream come true.
There are many attributes for the kids to enjoy, including a 20-plus foot tall slide.
The playground is made to be as safe as possible as it was built on a pour-in-place substrate made of rubber cord designed to cushion falls.
It’s not just for kids, either. Adults who drop in can get their exercise too — doing a lap 15 times around the park equates to a mile walk.
It’s a feature that will be much appreciated. “It’ll be nice to have a good walking path,” Beth Fiscus said And for those who don’t enjoy walking, there are plenty of benches around to sit and watch the kids play.
This park is ADA and ABA compliant. In addition to the usual swings, slides, and merry-go-rounds, this park has some musical pieces as well.
It features a giant set of chimes, xylophone, and drums. It also has a crank-powered drum game that 1-2 players can play.
Kids have highly anticipated the opening of this playground, said Annette Sudbeck, president of Coleridge Area Fund, the group that spearheaded this project.
Sudbeck was instrumental in applying for the grants necessary to help secure it.
