Candlelight Christmas is once again a big hit
HARTINGTON – Good November weather and countless volunteer hours added up to a another huge success for Friday's annual Candlelight Christmas celebration.
Hartington Mayor Mark Becker commended the Chamber of for its hard work to put together yet another great community event.
'It was a great event,' he said. 'The Chamber did a great job of putting together Candlelight Christmas. It had great participation. There was beautiful weather. It just really went off well. The chamber does a great job.'
Hartington Chamber of Commerce members spent several months planning and putting together the annual community event.
Chamber of Commerce President Ray Sukovaty said there is no way the event could happen without all the volunteer help.
'We just can't thank everybody enough for the way they chipped in to make this a success,' he said. 'An event like this just doesn't happen without a lot of volunteers.' Despite forecasts early in the week for wind and a bone-chilling cold night, the weather turned out to be near-pefect for late November.
This year's parade, which featured 84 entries, was also pushed back an hour to give folks more time to attend the business open houses and find a place to eat.
Sukovaty said he heard good comments about the time switch.
'It seems like people had more time to get to the other events going on — and there was a lot going on,' he said.
