HARTINGTON — Cecil Andresen was hauling a load of hay across a bridge east of his home Monday, when the bridge completely gave way, buckling up the tractor and hay sled and dumping them into the creek.
Mrs. Andresen said Cecil had some hairy moments when he realized that he and his helper were trapped in the cab, and the tractor was in the water.
They managed, however, to crawl out the back. The hay sled was apparently ruined but the tractor was pulled out and is operating under its own power. This accident should serve as a warning to local residents to check their bridges before using them for heavy loads. The next people might not be as lucky.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Chamber of Commerce announced this week that some lucky person can win a new color T.V. for the coming Christmas season.
The rules are simple: registration blanks will be printed each week in the Cedar County News, allowing each person to be able to register once a week.
Each week 20 names will be drawn out to make up a master list of eligible winners. The other names will then be discarded, so don’t forget to register each week. The 20 names that are drawn will be printed in the News.
At the end of the four weeks, the 80 names will then be put in a hat and some customer in the public will then draw out a winner. Registrations may be left at any place of business in Hartington, and each businessman should bring them to the Bank of Hartington each Monday, no later than noon, so the weekly drawing can be made in time to publish the names.
