LAUREL — The recent Laurel Community blood drive brought in 25 units, which will benefit up to 75 patients who rely on life-saving transfusions. Since each unit can save up to three lives, this makes a tremendous difference for those undergoing treatment.
One local donor, Alex Kvols of Laurel, hit a significant milestone with his recent donations. He has now donated six gallons of blood.
The local blood drive was part of this fall’s effort to help fight the greatest blood shortage in a generation in the largest blood donation competition in our lifetime. LifeServe Blood Center is proud to participate in “The We Give Blood Drive,” sponsored by Abbott and the Big Ten Conference.
Organizers are calling on all students, alumni and fans to rebuild the nation’s blood supply by pitting school against school in a conference-wide donation competition.
“The We Give Blood Drive” runs from Sept. 26 to Dec. 6. During this time, you can donate blood at one of our donation centers or mobile drives for your chance to win tickets to the 2024 Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game on Dec. 7, 2024, while also helping your school to win $1 million to advance student or community health.
The next Laurel Community Blood Drive will be Tuesday, Jan. 7 at the Laurel Fire Hall. Text ‘LIFESERVE’ to 999-777 to book your appointment. Your next donation could be the one that saves a life—don’t miss this opportunity.
