RANDOLPH – Two Randolph juniors were named to the 2024 Lewis & Clark All-Conference and honorable mention lists by the conference coaches this past week.
Mabel Ngebeh was tabbed to the Clark Division team along with nine additional players while Alexis Backhaus was named to the honorable mention list.
“They were both captains this season for our team,” said Head Coach Lyndsee English. “They were named captains because of the leadership, and love and knowledge of the game.”
Ngebeh was a six-rotation player for her junior campaign.
“Mabel was our go-to player this year in the front row when possible,” English said. “She played outside hitter most of the season then we moved hertothemiddlethelastpartofthefall where she became more of a blocking threat. She was a six-rotation player and honestly, she did a tremendous job in the back row. She led the team in digs and was outstanding in serve receive. She worked very hard in the off season on her back row play so she could be a six-rotation player and that hard work, time and effort paid off. It will be fun to see what she will be able to do next season.”
Backhaus was a setter in the Lady Cardinal6-2offenseandwasalsovery solid in the back row.
“Alexisrecordedthemostsetassists and was a huge asset defensively,” English said. “She was also a very reliable hitter on the right side. She isn’t the most vocal of the girls but she’s always helping younger players and she’s always one of the hardest working girls on the team. She leads by example. She’s another one that I’m very excited to bring back next season to see what more she can do.”
