LINCOLN –Wynot and Hartington Cedar Catholic’s volleyball teams lost while competing in the state volleyball tournament.
Cedar Catholic got the most out of its opening round match in the Class D1 State Volleyball Tournament Thursday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Unfortunately, the effort put out didn’t result in a win.
Cedar fell in five sets, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 26-28 and 8-15 in a grueling back-and-forth match to eventual state champion Superior.
Meanwhile, Wynot had the unenviable task of taking on two state champion teams in its two last games of the season.
Wynot disposed of last year’s D1 State Champs, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller in the district final to advance to Thursday’s first-round game, but couldn’t get past last year’s D2 state champion Overton in their Class D2 State Tournament match.
The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Blue Devils 25-17, 28-26 and 25-21 to move on to Friday’s semifinals.
