HARTINGTON – Two vehicles, previously owned by a Laurel man convicted of a four counts of murder, have been sold at auction.
According to court documents, Regg Ward, Laurel, purchased the 2005 Ford Mustang for $1,500; and John Kneifl, Dixon, purchased the 2007 Hummer H3 for $4,250.
Jones owed more than $14,000 to Hansen Brothers, Laurel, for services rendered. Cedar County Court Judge Sara Bauer ordered the sheriff to seize any and all assets to satisfy the debts including the vehicles which led to a sheriff’s auction that took place Nov. 1.
Jason Jones was convicted by a jury of murdering Gene Twiford, his wife, Janet, and their daughter, Dana, along with another Laurel woman, Michele Ebeling, and setting their homes on fire on Aug. 4, 2022.
The jury also found the murders to be aggravated, making him eligible for the death penalty. A three-judge panel have yet to decide his fate - life in prison or death.
