COLERIDGE — The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge Middle School was awarded a Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company/Foundation for Rural Service grant of $4,948.01 to continue to fund the Middle School Imagination and Creation Destination/Makerspace that was established in the 23-24 school year.
Funds will be used to provide additional laser engraving equipment in the space, purchase materials and supplies to create additional products with the makerspace equipment, and mobilize the makerspace to allow various equipment to be transported outside the self-contained makerspace area.
Pat McElroy, General Manager/ CEO of NNTC and Melissa Lanzourakis, NNTC Marketing Manager, came to the LCC Middle School to interview Mark Leonard, Middle School Principal, to find out how this innovative space was started as well as various students to learn more about what is in their makerspace, what they are creating, and to watch the students in action.

The middle school will be showcasing various products made in their makerspace at the Showcase Nebraska event Saturday, Nov. 16 in Wayne as well as Classroom Showcase, an event held at the CHI Center in Omaha Friday, Nov.22, for teachers and students to demonstrate projects and programs that reflect the integration of technology in curriculum.
