Wynot girls are heading back to Lincoln

ALBION — Wynot held on for a 3-1 victory over Sumner-Eddyville- Miller here at Boone Central High School Nov. 2 to advance to this week’s Class D2 Nebraska Volleyball Championships on Nov. 7 though the 9th.

SEM set the tone early, winning the the first set 25-23.

The Lady Blue Devils didn’t let that get them down, though, as they responded to take the next three sets, 26-24, 25-22 and 25-23 to hold on for the win and the trip to state.

Three Lady Blue Devils turned in outstanding performances, as all three recorded double-doubles in the match.

Kenna Oligmueller had 15 kills and 19 digs, Jordan Foxhoven hit 13 winners and 19 digs and Sophie Geisen had 39 set assists to go along with a dozen digs.

Foxhoven also tacked on seven ace serves in the match.

Eliza Lange added 10 slams while Joslyn Hochstein recorded seven winners.

Wynot will take on last year’s D2 State Champion and 2022 runner-up, Overton in the first round. First serve is set for 9 a.m. on the South Court at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Blue Devils grabbed a spot in the district match with a relatively three-set sweep of Archangel Catholic by identical set scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-13.

Oligmueller again led the attack with 16 kills on the night, Lange contributed eight. Sophie Geisen had 19 assists and Jaylin Geisen served four aces.

Jaylin Geisen also recorded 14 digs.

Oct. 28 was a beautiful night for the Library Halloween StoryWalk. with over 120 kids and adults, most in costumes, enjoying “The Pig the Monster” story, along with a scavenger hunt and treats handed out by the Friends of the Library members.
