LCC duo finishes cross country season at State

KEARNEY - A pair of Laurel-Concord- Coleridge Cross Country runners competed in the Class D Nebraska Cross Country Championships here Oct. 25 at the Kearney Country Club.

Bear senior, Preston Rose and Lady Bear junior Kate Tasler both ran the 5,000-kilometer course through the hills and valleys of the golf course.

Rose ran 3.2 miles in 18-minutes, 4.2-seconds to end up 32nd in the field of 124 runners, Tasler covered the distance in 22:14.6 to wind up 54th out of 121 runners.

“This wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be,” said Tasler. “It was a lot of fun and I thought I did okay.”

Tasler expects this experience will definitely give her incentive for her senior season.

“I will do this to get better with the mental part of running in these races,” she said. “I feel like I have proven to myself that I can compete at this level and it makes me excited to get back down here and do even better next year.”
