HARTINGTON— It takes more than good old fashioned Nebraska rain to dampen the ardor and enthusiasm of the local Hi Eleven and their aggregation of rooters under the leadership of Misses Blanenship and Gramlich.
This was fully realized by the good sized crowd which turned out in spite of the intermittent showers last Friday afternoon. The crowd gathered to witness the contest between the local boys and Bloomfield.
The Knox County boys drove over in the morning in order to be fully rested up for the encounter. They evidently realized that they were going to participate in a real game, although they had suffered but one previous defeat this year, and that was to Norfolk High.
The good work started not long after putting the ball into play. C. Jones made a touchdown and Ready kicked a goal.
In the second quarter, an intercepted pass resulted in a touchdown by Cheely for another six points. Nedrow followed with another a few minutes later and the scoring was completed for the day.
The local boys completed several good passes, one to L. Jones and one to Ready. Nedrow was slightly hurt and left the field in the third quarter, being replaced by Hirschman.
Bloomfield’s defense was weak and easily broken, but the locals held their line in spite of the heavy assaults. Hegert and Ready were particularly good in their tackling against Bloomfield and also helped to keep up the pep of the boys.
The line up for the game was as follows: ends, Jones and Ready; tackles, Hegert and Barnhart; guards, Hass and Fleming; center, Johnson; halfs, C. Jones and Wieneman; fullbacks, Nedrow and Cheely.
The boys will next tackle Randolph at Randolph and expect to take a goodly crowd of rooters and take home another victory.
