COLERIDGE β The Community of Coleridge will soon have a new, accessible playground, sidewalks, and concrete parking spaces for everyone to use at the Village Park.
Completion of the project is expected in early November. There will still be work to do, however, including putting up new lighting, re-installing lawn sprinklers, seeding grass, and installing signage, but the equipment will be ready for kids of all ages to play on.
This project would not be possible without the people who have provided support and the folks who live in the Coleridge area who work together to get things done, said Annette Sudbeck, who is a member of the Coleridge Area Fund group.
The park project is just one example of how community dedication results in a great final project.
βIt will be fun to see kids of all ages playing on the new equipment,β said CAF member Mary Biltoft.
Grant dollars provided for the Park Improvement Project include a federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant that is facilitated through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
The Sherwood Foundation has also provided a sizable grant to CAF to be used toward items that are accessible for diverse abilities.
The Cedar County Tourism Board has also provided funding for signage. The Village of Coleridge is providing several components including ADA compliant sidewalks and parking spaces for access to the playground.
One priority of the Coleridge Area Fund is to grow an Unrestricted Endowment to support long-term activities and projects for the betterment of the Coleridge area.
CAF makes annual grants to local entities to improve the community through large or small projects.
As the base principal balance of the fund increases, larger grants will be made available to complete more extensive projects to enhance and grow the community.
The end of the year is a great time to consider a tax-deductible donation to the Coleridge Area Fund, a subsidiary of the Nebraska Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.
You can choose to support the park improvement project or make a donation to the Unrestricted Endowment fund.
Donations to either fund can be made on-line at https://www.nebcommfound. org/give/Coleridge-area-fund or directly to Mary Biltoft, CAF Treasurer, PO Box 3, Coleridge, NE 68727 or any CAF member.
