Local man faces felony chid abuse charge

HARTINGTON — A local man has been charged with felony child abuse after he allegedly struck a teenager.

Todd Heikes, 36, was also charged with disturbing the peace during the same incident in August.

When law enforcement arrived, the victim reported Heikes slapped and punched him and put him in a headlock. Another child had videotaped the exchange and officers observed fresh injuries consistent with the report.

Heikes’ case was bound over to Cedar County District Court where he will next appear Nov. 25.
