75 Years Ago - Oct. 27, 1949
RANDOLPH – The Kuhl Studio, Randolph’s first photography studio in many years, will hold its formal opening on Saturday, October 29. The studio is housed in a completely new building, just recently finished.
Owner and operator of the studio is James Kuhl, who announced that on formal opening day, flowers will be given to each lady calling at the studio, and the public is urged to call and inspect the new studio.
Mr. Kuhl has had much experience in photography and received training at the Kline Studio at Norfolk. He will do photography of babies, individual portraits and commercial and on-the-spot photography, taking pictures in any location or at any time. He will also stock cameras and camera supplies.
60 Years Ago - Oct. 22, 1964
RANDOLPH – All bids were rejected which were submitted by contractors for the construction of a new St. Frances School building, at a bid opening session held Wednesday afternoon, October 14.
The total of the low bids for the general contract, plumbing and heating, and electric and wiring was about $60,000.00 higher than the estimate of the architect.
Sioux Contractors of Sioux City, Ia. was low bidder on the general contract with a bid of $301,224.00.
50 Years Ago Oct. 24, 1974
RANDOLPH – The Randolph Police car sustained approximately $630 damage early Tuesday, October 15, when it was in collision with a Black Angus steer.
The accident which occurred approximately four miles north of Wayne in the early morning hours on Tuesday was investigated by Nebraska State Trooper David Headley.
The police car, which was being driven by Randolph police officer, Richard Elofson, received damage to the left side and front end.
40 Years Ago - Oct. 25, 1984
RANDOLPH – Over 30 years of postal service will come to an end on Friday, November 2 when Marvin Weber will retire as the postmaster in Randolph.
Postmaster Weber has scheduled free coffee and cookies at the Randolph Post Office on that day and invites residents of Randolph and the surrounding area to help him honor the occasion.
Mr. Weber received his appointment from President Eisenhower as postmaster in Randolph on May 27, 1954, and began in Randolph as postmaster on July 10 the same year.
30 Years Ago - Oct. 26, 1994
RANDOLPH – First graders are able to continue to enjoy the Little Friends project initiated last year by RHS seniors due to the efforts of FHA members Melanie Brunssen and Michele Konken.
Brunssen and Konken will be meeting monthly with the first grade to discuss a different public service topic each time.
On Friday, Sept. 30, the first session involved fire safety.
On Friday, Oct. 21, the second session involved stranger awareness.
20 Years Ago - Oct. 27, 2004
RANDOLPH – Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch will be in Randolph Oct. 29.
Crouch’s visit is being used to help the Randolph Elementary School raise funds for new playground equipment for the School.
The visit will take place at the high school commons from 6-8 p.m.
Not only will people have the chance to meet and visit with Crouch, but also to purchase various items to aid the fund.

RANDOLPH – A dance studio that opened in Randolph last month already has kids kicking up their heels.
Chelsea Kuchta opened the doors on Studio 103 at 103 East Broadway which is just to the west of Jim’s Food Center.
They opened the day after Labor Day with 65 signing up for dance the first day. Ninety students are now taking lessons, Kuchta said.
Kids from Carroll, Coleridge, Laurel, Osmond, Pierce, Randolph and Wayne are among the students who are leaning to dance.
