WYNOT — Wynot opened play in the Lewis & Clark Conference Volleyball Tournament with a couple of wins over Wausa and Winside. The Lady Blue Devils beat Winside in a five-set thriller, 25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 17-25 and 15-11. They defeated Wausa in a best-of-three-sets match in straight sets, 25-8 and 25-14.
Against the Lady Wildcats, Wynot seemed posed to make short work of Winside, winning the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21, but the Lady Cats clawed back into the match winning the next two sets.
The Lady Blue Devils righted the ship and came through on the sprint to 15 in set five to take the match 3-2.
Kenna Oligmueller and Sophia Geisen had monster games against the Lady Wildcats, both recording double-doubles.
Oligmueller had 25 kills and 20 digs while Geisen had 49 set assists and 13 digs.
Joslyn Hochstein contributed 13 winners at the net, Jordan Foxhoven had eight, Haley Wieseler knocked down five and Eliza Lange and Geisen each had four kills.
Jaylin Giesen played a great back row with team highs in both digs at 25 and successful passes with 22.
Foxhoven added 14 digs to her match and had 17 good passes.
Wynot played Wausa two matches in a row, defeating the Lady Vikings Oct. 17 in a regular season best-offive- sets match 3-0 then taking care of them with the 2-0 win to open the tournament.
Foxhoven and Wieseler paced the Lady Blue Devil attack with seven and five winners at the net respectively.
Oligmueller had four ace serves and Kiera Heimes added two winners from the service line.
Oligmueller also recorded 12 digs and Sophia Geisen put up 17 assists.
The Lady Blue Devils were set to take on 23-3 Homer Oct. 22 and will take on Bancroft-Rosalie Oct. 25.
