SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota State’s Carson Noecker takes cross country Peak Performer of the Week, announced by the Summit League last Tuesday.
Noecker, a Cedar Catholic graduate, is honored with the award for the second-consecutive eligible week.
The sophomore was last awarded Peak Performer of the Week on Sept. 24, following a top-10 finish at the Roy Griak Invitational.
Noecker takes the PPOTW award after he won the Jay Dirksen Men’s 8K, 21 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher at the SDSU Classic Oct. 4 The sophomore’s time of 24:11.28 set a new Edgebrook course record, besting the record he had previously set at the Summit League Championships last year when he won the conference meet with a time of 24:17.2.
Noecker won the previous week’s award because of his effort at the Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn.
South Dakota State men’s cross country team took eighth in that event. The team was led by Noecker, who finished the day in ninth overall, first in the Summit League, with an 8K time of 25:16.1.
The team splits in two as the Jacks attend the Wisconsin Pre Nationals, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, and the Jim Drews Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Oct. 19.
