Wynot splits triangular with Cedar Catholic and Ponca

PONCA - The Wynot Lady Blue Devils split two matches in a triangular hosted by Ponca on Oct. 10.

Wynot dropped a match to Cedar Catholic then responded to take down the hosting Lady Indians to end the evening with a 10-7 record.

Cedar Catholic defeated the Lady Blue Devils 25-23 and 25-18. After taking the Lady Trojans the distance in the opening set before falling, Cedar Catholic kept the pressure on in set two to record the sweep.

Joslyn Hochstein was the main offensive threat and finished the match with five winners. Kenna Oligmueller had three, Eliza Lange and Sophia Geisen each had two.

Sophia Geisen recorded 10 set assists Jaylin Geisen contributed a dozen digs.

In the win over Ponca, the Lady Indians took the opening set, but the Lady Blue Devils battled back to win set two 25-15 then held on to take set three and the match, 25-21.

Two Wynot players recorded double-doubles in the match with Oligmueller recording 15 kills and 11 digs, Sophia Geisen had 25 assists and 12 digs.

The Lady Blue Devil defense was busy in the match, as the team combined for 70 digs throughout the game.

Wynot was set to head to Randolph for a triangular with the Lady Cardinals and Plainview on Oct. 15 before heading to Wausa for a date with the Lady Vikings on Oct. 17.

The Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament is set to begin Oct. 19 through the Oct. 22.
