LCC cross country runners compete at Stanton

STANTON - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge cross country teams ran in the Stanton Invitational with the Lady Bears coming in fourth and Bears placing fifth in their respective races.

Both teams were a little short for the meet due to illness.

The Lady Bears earned a couple of medals in the meet with Kate Tasler taking seventh place overall with a time of 22-minutes, 14-seconds while Addison Hoeppner was 20th in 23:51.

Callie Fisher won the meet for Lutheran High Northeast with Pender’s Kayla Krusemark coming in second at 21:02.

The Lady Pendragons also placed third and fourth on their way to the team title with 18 points.

West Point-Beemer was second with 47, Pierce was third with 60 followed by the Lady Bears with 65.

In the boys division, the Bears were fifth behind the champions, West Point-Beemer with 41, runner-up Pierce with 43, Stanton posted 53, Oakland-Craig 65 and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge with 90.

Preston Rose was the top Bear finisher with a fourth-place showing in a time of 18:34. Carter Korth used a time of 19:27 to bring home the 16thplace hardware.

Dawson Meyer of Oakland-Craig was the individual champion in 17:24, Kendal Shada of Pierce was second in 17:42.

John McDermott finished the five kilometer course in 37th place for LCC, Sebastion Von Dregelen was 53rd and Luke Jackson came in 58th.

“We ran pretty well in the wind,” Laurel-Concord- Coleridge coach, Brandi Settje said. “We’re trying to get everyone healthy for this week’s conference meet and districts next week.”

The first-ever Greater Northeast Activities Conference Meet is scheduled for Oct. 10 in Plainview with the D-2 District Meet set for Oct. 17 at Twin Creeks Golf Course north of Pender.
