HARTINGTON — Meet and welcome our new Editor of the Cedar County News, Keith Clarkson and his wife Sandra.
They came to Hartington from Walthill where they have owned and operated the Walthill Citizen the past five years.
They are really “coming home” to Northeast Nebraska, as Keith is a native of Petersburg and as a youth resided at Coleridge and later at Laurel.
Sandra is a native of Wayne. Keith has worked on the newspapers at Newman Grove and at Laurel. Sandra is also a capable news woman.
They have been at Walthill where the Indians are boycotting the town, so they thought it was a good time to get away.
The first thing that needs to happen is to locate a home for them. There doesn’t seem to be any place vacant at present, so Keith is commuting daily.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of two fires in the last two days.
The first fire was Saturday at the Elno Jordan farm southwest of Hartington.
A hay stack was burning, but with the help of neighbors, the fire was under control by the time the fire fighters arrived.
On Tuesday, firemen were called to the Franklin Olsen farm east of town.
The motor on a combine caught on fire while it was being started. Again, the fire was under control by the time fire fighters arrived on the scene. Fire chief Jack Samelson said the victims of the fires did the right thing when they called the fire department and then made their attempt to put out the blaze or keep the fire from spreading.
