HARTINGTON — Hartington-Newcastle is in the midst of its Homecoming celebration.
The festivities began Monday and run through Saturday.
The theme for this year’s event is Blast from the Past.
Several special dress-up days have already taken place and will take place before the week is over.
Monday was Mellow Out Monday or pajama day. Tuesday was Totally Tubular Tuesday, which featured 1980s outfits.
Wednesday was Wild West Wednesday, which featured western wear.
Thursday will be Thirty’s Thursday — a day to dress to impress.
Friday is Back to the Future Friday and a day to wear the school colors, purple and white.
Friday will also feature a 9:45 a.m. pep rally in the HNS school gym. The parade will follow at 11:30 a.m. This year’s parade will be a joint parade with Cedar Catholic, which is also celebrating Homecoming Week.
Coronation in the HNS gym will take place after the parade. It’s expected to get underway at 12:30 p.m.
The Wildcats play the nightcap in a football doubleheader at Russ Hochstein Field. They will host Lutheran High Northeast for a 7 p.m. football game.
The week ends with an 8:30-11 p.m. Homecoming dance Saturday night in the HNS gym.
This year’s Royalty attendants include: King candidates Cole Heimes, Logan Opfer, Ayden Rosener and Cole Rosener. Queen candidates are Abi Rice, McKenzie Bruning, Maddie Steffen and Ryell Haug.
Junior attendant candidates are Lainey Morten, Trynity Zach, Bradyen Lammers and Issac Santiago.
Sophomore attendant candidates are Karissa Bruning, Adeline Pinkelman, Colton Cavanaugh and Austin Sudbeck.
Freshmen attendants are Kloe Fischer, Vayda Lippert, Cody Cavanaugh and Kyptin Collier.
