Hartington will turn Purple and Red this week for Homecoming

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic students will be traveling through the decades during this week’s Homecoming Week celebration.

The Cedar Catholic Homecoming Theme this year is ‘Decades’ with each class decorating the school in the style of their own particular decade.

Seniors - 70s Disco Juniors - Dirty 30s Sophomores - 1920s Freshmen -2020s 8th grade - 1990s 7th grade - 1950s A special Pajama Day Dress up Day was held Monday and students were able to dress for their class decade on Tuesday.

Wednesday students can wear their favorite sports team’s shirt or jersey to school.

Thursday will be a day to show off their community spirit as it’s “Local business t-shirt day.”

Friday is Homecoming day and students can wear jeans with a red or white Cedar t-shirt.

Candidates for this year’s Homecoming royalty are: Queen Candidates

Lauren Bernecker, daughter of Jay and Miranda Bernecker; Bailey Hochstein, daughter of Sam and Carrie Hochstein; and Lauren Potts, daughter of Tom and Robin Potts.

King Candidates

Jack Christensen, son of Jimmy and Sheri Christensen; Matthew Loecker, son of Curt and Kristi Loecker; and Ryan Pick, son of Darin and Lisa Pick.

Master and Mistress of Ceremonies are: Lyndsey Hamilton, daughter of Mike and Joanne Hamilton, and Jacob Steffen, son of Steve and Jayne Steffen.

Special activities are planned all day Friday, as students will decorate their floats and the gym from 8-11 a.m. that day.

A joint parade between Cedar and Hartington-Newcastle will take place at 11:30 a.m.

A noon Pep Rally is planned at the Msgr. Werner Activity Center and the Homecoming football game will be at 3 p.m. against Fremont Bergen.

The Coronation of King and Queen will be at 7:30 p.m., with the dance to follow.
