RANDOLPH – Reaching Out Around Randolph (ROAR) awarded its annual Community Fair awards at the conclusion of fair activities Sunday night.
The Lucas and Becky Miller family were recognized with the 2024 Farm Family Award.
Nominated by Derek and Kalynda Kuhl, the Miller family was recognized for their service to the community including PCCW, Knights of Columbus, St. Frances de Chantal youth choir; Cardinal Kids Learning Center board; Randolph Summer Youth coaches; Lied Randolph Public Library, Randolph Elementary Friends and more.
The Miller family regularly open their farm for elementary students to tour, and their children, Eli, Adam, Lauren and Lila are often seen helping alongside their parents at local events, the Kuhls said in their nomination letter.
Jeri Schmit was awarded the Employee of the Year Award.
She was nominated by First State Bank where she works as assistant cashier and Human Resources officer.
Schmit has worked at the bank for 14 years, being promoted many times along the way. She serves a key role in bank management, positioning the bank to best serve its customers as well as providing a welcoming and positive place to work, the nomination read.
She was described as a dedicated, accurate, detailed and effective leader.
Along with her work, she is active in ROAR and St. Frances church.
There were no nominations for the Good Neighbor Award.
At the opening of the fair, Randolph’s Economic Development Advisory Board recognized Julie Loberg as this year’s Queen Bee.
The Queen Bee award began last year as a nod to Randolph’s heritage as the Honey Capital of the Nation and recognizes a Randolph woman who is a true community supporter.
