HARTINGTON — The Hartington Braves defeated the Yankton Lakers 6-4 Sunday in a 10-inning game.
The game turned into quite a spectacle after a near brawl erupted in the fourth inning.
Jerry Heine and Tom Kuchta knocked in home runs in the 10th inning to give Roman Loecker the loss.
The trouble in the fourth inning arose when Yankton catcher Tom Caven, after grounding out, commented loudly on plate umpire Al Haverman’s abilities as an umpire.
Haverman tossed Caven out of the game, whereupon Caven charged Haverman and nearly bowled him over.
