RANDOLPH – Many students, staff and fellow administrators at Randolph Public Schools already considered Elementary Principal Denton Beacom ‘outstanding’ but now he has the hardware to prove it.

Beacom was awarded the Outstanding New Principal Award for Nebraska’s Region III through the National Association of Elementary School Principals. The region includes 19 counties in northeast Nebraska.

He was nominated by Superintendent Daryl Schrunk for the award and received it at a luncheon awards ceremony earlier this summer.

“I was a bit surprised,” Beacom said. “I knew I had been nominated but had no idea that I was the recipient. I felt very humbled to receive this honor. It is truly an honor to be selected by my peers for this award.”

Schrunk’s nomination included notes he observed about Beacom’s leadership style such as respect and dignity for every individual; being a lifelong learner; showing visionary leadership; his communication and collaboration efforts; and his efficient and purposeful decision-making abilities.

“His personality has endeared him to those he comes in contact with,” Schrunk said. “He’s very genuine. He is caring and is devoted to helping others.”

Beacom said he actively participates in Region III’s activities and has built relationships with other area administrators. But he gives credit to the “dedicated staff” at Randolph Elementary for making him ‘outstanding.’

“It is truly a team effort and I am lucky to have such an awesome team at Randolph Elementary,” he said. “We also have fantastic kids, parents, and community members that make Randolph Elementary a special place. My family and I feel blessed to be part of the Cardinal family.”

The Outstanding New Principal Award plaque will be displayed in Beacom’s office. This fall he will start his third year as elementary principal.
