HARTINGTON — All Cedar County residents are invited and encouraged to enter open class exhibits for the Cedar County Fair, July 18. Exhibit categories includes Horticulture, Fruits and Vegetables, Flowers, Domestic Science, Quilts, Photography, Needlework and Arts and Crafts for all ages.
There is no entry fee and no limit to the number of items or the number of classes that an exhibitor may enter. Exhibits must be owned and made by the exhibitor and completed after the 2023 Cedar County Fair. Ribbons and prize money will be awarded in all departments.
All entries for open class must be entered July 18, from 8 a.m.1p.m. No entries will be accepted after that time Guidelines for all departments can be found in the Open Class Fair Book which can be picked up at the Cedar County Extension Office or by contacting Cherine Specht, Open Class Superintendent.
The fair tries to stay up to date on whats new in arts and crafts by adding new categories as the trends demand, said Specht. Such new entries include a Charcuterie Board in Woodworking, Diamond Art in Adult Arts and Crafts, and Friendship Bracelets for Youth Arts and Crafts this year.
Also new this year in Quilts is a category for “Gifted Quilt.” This category will include quilts gifted to the exhibitor and will include a story as to who gifted the quilt, the age of the quilt and the special meaning the quilt has to you.
