Cedar County law enforcement joins search for missing man

YANKTON, S.D. – Cedar County law enforcement joined the search over the weekend for a man last seen swimming in the Missouri River on Friday.

YANKTON, S.D. — Cedar County law enforcement joined the search over the weekend for a man last seen swimming in the Missouri River on Friday.

Phillip Snoozy, 23, of Yankton, S.D., went missing after last being seen alone in the river between 4:40 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. under the Meridian Bridge in the Missouri River along the Nebraska shore. Snoozy was reported missing by campers in the area after his personal belongings were found on the riverbank unattended.

Officials from the National Park Service and Cedar County Sheriff’s Office in Nebraska are leading the search. Other local agencies are also searching the Missouri National Recreational River and surrounding area.

Snoozy is described as being 6-feet tall, 190 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

The public is asked to contact the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office at 402254-6884, the National Park Service dispatch at 605-574-3120, or their local law enforcement agency if they have information related to this case.
