Hartington man is elected to Neb. Auctioneers Assoc. Board

HARTINGTON – Austin Creamer is an advocate for the auction industry, especially in his home state.

The Hartington auctioneer was elected to his second term on the Nebraska Auctioneers Association Board of Directors during the 2024 edition of the organization's annual convention, held April 26-28 in Aurora.

His first three-year term on the board was from 2019 to 2021.

“I have a passion for the auction industry, being involved in it for most of my life, and am more than happy to help in any way that I can,” Austin said.

The 25-year-old said the board is responsible for making decisions for the association and being a voice for the auction industry across the state.

“Specific duties that come with it would be voting for things in the interest of the association itself,” Austin said. “I have enjoyed being able to serve my industry as well as being an advocate for the Nebraska Auctioneers Association and the auction industry in general.”

His father, Ryan, served on the board a couple of times, once as presidentand of the association.

“I grew up going to conventions every year, so for as long as I can remember, I’ve been a part of this or ganization,” Austin said. “I think of the members of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association as an extended family.”

He has been an auctioneer for about nine years. He and his brother, Isaac, attended the Iowa-based World Wide College of Auctioneering in June 2015.

“Wow, it’s gone by fast,” Austin said. “I really enjoy that every day brings something new and I love being able to help people across all walks of life and be a part of their story.”

He and Isaac, 24, are part owners of Creamer Auction Co., Hartington, with their father.

“After Isaac and I graduated from college, Creamer Auction Co. LLC was formed,” Austin said. “One thing that really helps our business is that we each have our own areas of expertise, which makes our business able to cover a vast amount of the auction industry. I know a fair amount about firearms and vehicles, Isaac is the coin expert and farm toy fanatic, and Dad knows his way around farm equipment and antiques.”

The brothers, who first lived in Laurel with their family and then Hartington, grew up helping their father with auctions and setting up for and cleaning up after auctions during many weekends.

After graduating in 2017 from Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington, Austin attended Wayne State College, studied agribusiness and economics, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2021.

“I became an auctioneer to follow in my father’s footsteps and because it was the business that I grew up in and what I have always known,” Austin said.

As far as serving another term as a member of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association board, Austin said, “I love the auction industry and truly love the people that make it all possible. Being a part of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association gives members a level of professionalism and education that cannot be rivaled.”
