Schroeder, Heine bring home State medals for Wynot

OMAHA – Senior Blue Devils Chase Schroeder and Dylan Heine each brought home a medal from the 2024 Nebraska Class D Track Championships held May 1718 at Omaha Burke Stadium.

OMAHA — Senior Blue Devils Chase Schroeder and Dylan Heine each brought home a medal from the 2024 Nebraska Class D Track Championships held May 1718 at Omaha Burke Stadium.

Schroeder used a time of 2-minutes and 03.42 seconds in the 800-meter run to bring the eighth-place medal home to Wynot.

Luc Lopez of Axtell won the event with a time of 1:59.33 and teammate Keyton Cole was second in 2:00.17.

Heine participated in two individual events in Omaha, competing in the high jump and the triple jump.

After setting the school record at 6-feet-5-inches at the previous week’s District Track Meet in Hartington, Heine managed 6-01 at State. The feat was good enough to allow him to bring home the eighth-place hardware.

Justin Folkers of Twin River did clear 6-05 to win the gold medal.

Heine also competed in the triple jump, but fouled on his three jumping attempts in the preliminaries.

Schroeder and Heine teamed up with Jed Nelson and Korbin Guenther in the 3,200-meter relay.

The Wynot quartet circled the Burke Stadium track eight times in 9:16.78 to finish 15th in the race.

High Plains Community won the event with a time of 8:24.69.
