Kim Backer
ALBANY, Ore. — Kimberly “Kim” Backer , 69, Albany, Ore., died peacefully April 21, 2024. A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., May 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Albany. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. Kim was born July 19, 1954, in Norfolk, to Steve and Marsha (Brummer) Backer. He graduated from West Albany High School in 1972, and spent most of his life in the Willamette Valley. Kim enjoyed the outdoors, vegetable and flower gardening and his beloved Oregon State Beavers. Kim is survived by his parents; wife, Peggy; children, Jamie (Crysta) Backer, Ayla (Daniel) Ervin and Stevie Borge; and six grandchildren, Rae Whitehurst Stroschine, Theo Whitehurst Stroschine, Jude Backer, Maya Backer, Ava Stroschine and Evangeline Stroschine; siblings, Konnie (Rick) Perlenfein, Kris (Dan) King, Kelly (Kelli) Backer and Kari (Brian) Lucero; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Kirby Backer.
