Cedar golfers are third at MidState meet

O’NEILL - The Cedar Catholic golf team traveled to the O’Neill Country Club here for the Mid State Conference golf meet and came away with third place in the team scoring behind O’Neill and Norfolk Catholic.

O’NEILL - The Cedar Catholic golf team traveled to the O’Neill Country Club here for the Mid State Conference golf meet and came away with third place in the team scoring behind O’Neill and Norfolk Catholic.

The Eagles led the way after firing a 318, 10 shots better than the Knights who were 11 shots better than the Trojans at 328 and 339.

“We shot very well in the conference meet, but third was all we could muster, it was a very competitive meet,” Cedar Catholic coach Rick Kuehn said. “We had some nice weather for a change.”

Langston Christensen led three Trojan golfers who brought home hardware after using an 83 to place eighth.

Memphis Ulrich was 10th, also with an 83 and Sam Kuehn was 15th after carding an 85.

Maverick Heine closed out the Cedar Catholic scoring with an 88 and Harrison Kuehn came in with a 94.

Turner Heiss of O’Neill won the individual title with a 75 and Travis Emory of Pierce won a playoff over Brake Berg of O’Neill after they tied with 78’s.

The Trojans were set to golf in the Randolph Invite on May 7 before hosting the C-3 District Meet at the Hartington Golf Course on May 14. Sixteen teams will be competing in the district meet.
