LINCOLN — Undaunted by the tragic accident which kept six of their members out of the contest, the Wynot students won first place in the Class D Nebraska State Music Contest.
While Miss Irma Killer, assistant music teacher and four high school students lay in the hospital with injuries received Friday night, and two more of the group mourned the death of their father in the same crash, Prof. S.A. Ramp directed the remaining 31 of their classmates to a state championship.
Wynot was first for the smaller schools with 30 points. Schickley was second with 11 and Utica and Avoca tied for third with 10 points.

HARTINGTON — Members of the Rose Hill community baseball club sponsored a benefit dance at the Casper Gubbels far place Sunday evening. The affair was largely attended.
Music during the evening was provided by Walter Sidak, Ed Truhlar and Clarence Rasmussen.

HARTINGTON — Leading Republicans of Cedar County will meet in the courtroom of the Cedar County Courthouse Tuesday to organize a Griswold for Governor Club.
Griswold for Governor clubs are being organized throughout the state.
Dwight Griswold was born in Sioux City in 1893. Mr. Griswold is the editor of the Gordon Journal, one of the state’s leading weekly newspapers, and three years ago, served as the President of the Nebraska Press Association. He has served one term in the House of Representatives and three terms in the state senate, representing the largest district in the state.

HARTINGTON — Liberty High School will be started at District 107, west of Hartington next year.
Children of the District who attended the grades at District 107 this year will attend classes in other districts.
The school building is being remodeled. A new library and cloak room will be built and preparations made for the beginning of high school next term.
Ninth and tenth grades will be taught. Miss Mary Catherine O’Donnell, who has been the instructor in the St. Helena High School for the past several years, has been selected as the new instructor at Liberty High School.
