NORFOLK - The 2024 Norfolk Classic Track and Field Meet was held April 25 at Johnny Carson Field in Norfolk.
Participants had to qualify to compete in the meet based on their times, distances and heights during the track season.
Several Cedar Catholic track athletes participated in the meet along with Hartington-Newcastle’s Cole Rosener.
Rosener placed third in the long jump at the meet after hitting the sand after sailing 20-feet-10-inches.
Rowdy Bauer of Norfolk High won the event with a best of 23-10.
Cedar Catholic freshman Anisten Wortmann continued her impressive inaugural campaign taking her first Classic gold medal in the 200 with a time of 25.88 seconds.
She also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16-feet-5.75 inches.
Lauren Bernecker was third in the 400 with a time of 1:00.63 and ran legs in a couple of relays.
The 4X800 team of Brynn Bernecker, Claire Rolfes, Lauren Bernecker and Kally Becker earned a gold medal with a time of 9:58.24 and the 4X400 squad of Wortmann, the Bernecker sisters and Becker placed fifth with a 4:16.23 clocking.
Rolfes brough home a couple of individual medals after placing fifth in the 1,600 and sixth in the 3,200 with times of 5:40.89 and 12:36.61 respectively.
Lexi Eickhoff also competed in Norfolk and placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 35-10.75.
The Cedar Catholic Trojan relay team of Matthew Loecker, Alex Elks, Kighter Wortmann and Nolan Becker placed fifth in the 4X800 with a time of 8:49.32.
