HARTINGTON — Two accidents last week caused minor injuries to three people, according to local authorities.

Colin J. Schulte, 26, was injured April 25 when the motorcycle he was operating was in collision with a car driven by Julie Lovseth, 23. Schulte was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton by the Hartington Rescue Squad. He was treated for cuts and bruises.

Hartington Police Chief Walt Lewis said Miss Lovseth was exiting the alley between the Max Goetz building and Dreesen Tire when her vehicle was in collision with Schulte’s motorcycle, which was traveling east of Main Street.

Lewis said parked vehicles blocked each operator’s view of the other vehicle.

Nebraska State Trooper Gary Kinney said two people received minor injuries in a one-car accident on a country road west of Hartington on Friday.

Stacey Kathol, 15, and a passenger in the vehicle she was driving, Lisa Pommer, 16, were treated at the Family Medicine Center and released after the car they were in left the road and struck a tree.

Miss Kathol was cited for improper use of a learner’s permit.

HARTINGTON — A late-season snowstorm Sunday was met with little enthusiasm by area residents.

The snow and high winds that accompanied the system were responsible for widespread power outages, highway travel was restricted and fieldwork came to a halt.

Although the temperature remained above the freezing mark during the storm, snow accumulation totaled approximately 8 inches.

Crews for Cedar-Knox Public Power District and Nebraska Public Power District worked overtime through Monday to restore power to some areas.

Jerome Litz, Cedar-Knox PPD manager, said the hardest hit area was south of Laurel. He said three 3-phase poles were broken in that area, with the conductor also broken.
