City reviews audit, appoints new Zoning Board member

HARTINGTON — The city of Hartington received some good news Monday from city auditors.

The city has made great strides to clean up its accounting and improve its financial status since the city began working with AMGL Certified Public Accountants of Grand Island a few years ago, said AMGL representative Kyle Overturf.

Overturf presented the Council with the city audit, noting there were very few concerns with this year’s audit.

The Council also voted Monday to appoint Lisa Dendigner to the Planning and Zoning Board.

The city had been approached about establishing weekly or monthly rates at the city-owned camper court, but after some discussion it was decided to stick with the current $25 per night fee.

The Coouncil also voted to a pprove a building permit for a new house in the 220 addition for Zach and Lisa Becker.

Councilman Roman Sudbeck said the new concession stand/restroom/ storage facility at the Community Complex softball and baseball fields is nearly complete and will be ready for the start of the new season.

Councilman Colin Kathol told Council members about an unexpected expense at the Felber Park Baseball Field. The concrete bleachers behind home plate and the third base line were recently torn out and sod will be put in its place. New sprinklers were installed to keep the grass there in good shape, which is an expense the city was not planning for, he said.

The Council also heard an update from NPPD representative Brittany Koenig. Koenig told the Council residential rates are staying unchanged, for the 11th straight year.
