HARTINGTON — In what could be considered a home away from home, Wynot traveled to Hartington for the Trojan Invitational on April 9 at the Hartington Community Athletic Complex.

The Blue Devils finished sixth in the boys’ team race while the Lady Blue Devils came in fifth.

Cedar Catholic won the the boys’ title with 124 points, Hartington-Newcastle was second with 104, Creighton was third with 81, Wausa was fourth with 74, Crofton was fifth with 64 and Wynot was sixth with 54.

Wausa won the girls’ title with 127 points followed by Cedar Catholic with 119, Crofton with 107, Hartington-Newcastle with 59 and the Lady Blue Devils with 47.

Dylan Heine and Chase Schroeder carried the Blue Devils in the meet.

Heine won the high jump after clearing the bar at 6-feet-2-inches and placed second in the triple jump with a best of 41-03, which actually tied for the longest jump but Jace Foxhoven of Crofton had a better second jump and won the gold.

Schroeder won the 800 and was third in the 400 then joined Heine, Cooper Oligmueller and Korbin Guenter to place second in the 3,200-meter relay.

The Blue Devil 1,600 relay squad of Karter Pick, Jed Nelson, Nixen Heimes and Braylon Hans placed fourth.

Oligmueller placed fourth in the 1,600 with Guenther finishing sixth and Nelson was sixth in the 800 behind Schroeder. Kotner Koch was fifth in the triple jump. The Lady Blue Devils relied on success in the relays to score points in the meet. The 400 -meter relay team of Kinslee Heimes, Eliza Lange, Myrah Sudbeck and Tiara Sudbeck circled the track once in 53.02 seconds to win the event. The 1,600 meter relay foursome of Kinslee Heimes, Lange, Kiera Heimes and Myrah Sudbeck placed second. Myrah Sudbeck showed off her speed, as she placed third in the 200 and fourth in the 100, Tiara Heimes was fifth in the 100 and placed fourth in the long jump. Kiera Hemes also placed fourth in the 400-meters. Wynot was set to go back to Hartington for the Hartington-Newcastle meet on April 15 and will then head down Highway 12 to the Ponca Track Invitational Meet slated for April 23.
