HARTINGTON — Food Bank for the Heartland is partnering with Farm Credit Services of America to host a free Mobile Pantry in Hartington, Nebraska on April 24, from 4-6 p.m., or until food runs out, at the Cedar County Courthouse in Hartington.
The one-day distribution will provide shelf-stable products, assorted fresh produce, and bread. Items will be placed directly into vehicles. Recipients are asked to stay in their vehicle with the trunk open. The mobile pantry is available to anyone living in Cedar County and the surrounding communities, and no identification is required to receive food. All attendees are asked to enter from HWY 84 and turn north into the parking lot.
Funding from FCSAmerica will allow employees to distribute enough perishable and shelf-stable food to serve 100 households.
“With the generous support of FCSAmerica, we can distribute critical staples to individuals with limited resources,” said Brian Barks, president and CEO of Food Bank for the Heartland. “As families continue to grapple with elevated prices on everyday essentials, we remain committed to offering consistent access to nutritious food throughout our 93-county service area. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the Hartington community.”
According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap study, approximately 7.4 percent of individuals in Cedar County are facing hunger.
