COLERIDGE — The American Legion Post #114 and its Auxiliary Unit #114 held their monthly meeting April 1 at the Coleridge Community Building. The units jointly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then they separated and held their monthly meetings.
President Vicky Gullicksen gave a reading and a prayer followed by a moment of silence in memory of our departed, and then called the meeting to order.
Secretary Brenda Lage called the role with seven members responding. She also read the minutes of the last meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Diane Wemhoff gave the Treasurer’s report, for the month of March, with her report accepted as read. The motion was made by M. Storm, and seconded by J. Burbach, to pay bills as presented.
President Gullicksen told the members Lily Fox has been chosen to represent the district at Girl’s State in Lincoln in June.
Gullicksen also updated the Auxiliary on the essay contest. The winners were judged, and first place goes to Ryleigh Loberg, second to Foster Stone and third to Ailya Detlefsen.
The American Legion Pancake Feed will be April 14, with the Auxiliary having a No Bake Sale for members, $15 per member, President Gullicksen will send out a message to members. Discussion was held on upcoming Memorial Day activities and members will be working on these at May’s meeting.
At this time, President Gullicksen read us a thank you from the Veteran’s home in regard to her President’s Project she had done, and she donated the left-over monies to them. Also discussed, April 13 and April 14 there is clean-up days at Dreamer’s Place Veterans Equestrian Ranch in Wayne, plus Beverly Neel and volunteers will be donating their time to help with clean up. President Gullicksen also said they had officers elected at District Convention.
We still have a few members who haven’t paid dues yet for 2024, we will be reaching out to them.
The next meeting will be May 6, 2024.
